Ivysaur is found during the [[Subspace Emissary]] part of the game as a [[Trophy]] sitting inside a cave before Pokémon Trainer battles Charizard. Pokémon Trainer throws a [[Pokéball]] at it and it is caught. After that Ivysaur is used by the Pokémon Trainer in battle.

This is Ivysaur's standard special move. When used, Ivysaur will shoot a barrage of seeds upwards into the sky, hurting anyone who happens to jump over Ivysaur. There is an actual attack in the [[Pokémon]] series, known as Bullet Seed, which can be learned by Ivysaur, but not naturally. Bullet Seed can be used by [[Kirby]] after Ivysaur's powers have been copied.

However, in the Pokémon series, a player would shoot out a great deal of very speedy leaves, although in Brawl, it is just one very slow leaf.

This is Ivysaur's up special move, and will make use of the [[Tether Recovery]] tactic. When Ivysaur is sent falling off the edge, the player should use Vine Whip, and Ivysaur will grab onto a ledge with its vine, and retract the vine, to bring itself back up safety. However, the vine does have a limit to how far it can reach, and it won't go too far. Vine Whip does more damage if the opponent is hit farther along the vine; being hit by the tip of the vine causes a substantial amount of damage.

==Trivia==
*The name "Ivysaur" is a combination of the words ivy (from its ability to use ivy vines as arms and hands) and dinosaur (due to its dinosaur-like appearance).
*Ivysaur's up smash attack, up aerial attack, and down aerial attack are very similar as they all revolve around releasing an explosion out of its flower bulb on its back.
*No one knows why Ivysaur's trophy was in the ruins,but someone suggested that [[Charizard]] defeated it.
