Indigo Underground is a location from Paper Mario: Color Splash. The path leading here is unlocked after getting the blue Mini Paint Star from Port Prisma. Collecting the blue Mini Paint Star from Ruddy Road also leads to this level, but doing so requires gathering all members of the Purple Rescue Squad, whose member #1 is located in Daffodil Peak, which can only be accessed by completing this level. Therefore, the only purpose of the path from Ruddy Road is to serve as a shortcut on the World Map. The Mini Paint Stars in this level unlocks paths leading to Daffodil Peak and Bloo Bay Beach. Every member of the green Rescue Squad can be found here, as well as the Lemon Thing.

At the cave's entrance, Mario can enter a Warp Pipe. This ejects him and reveals Rescue Green, the leader of the green Rescue Squad, stuck in the pipe. He tells Mario to get him out, and Mario must use Cutout to insert the Plunger Thing into a rock above the pipe. Rescue Green then explains that the members of the his squad got separated and are stuck underground. Mario can enter the pipe again, and a Shy Guy jumps out and battles him. Rescue Green goes down into the cave, and Mario must follow him.

Shortly after going underground, Mario will see two Shy Guys throwing a crumpled piece of paper. He must defeat the Shy Guys and hammer the paper to reveal the first Rescue Squad member. The second Rescue Squad member is found hiding from a Swoop after two moving blocks. Mario must paint in part of the next moving block and go up. For the next moving block section, Mario must wait until one has risen and walk through a hole to go further down. From there, he can use three more moving blocks to enter a new area.
