Throughout the ''{{wp|Sonic the Hedgehog}}'' franchise it has made numerous appearances in many games, including ''[[sonicretro:Sonic Adventure 2|Sonic Adventure 2]]'' and ''[[sonicretro:Sonic Generations|Sonic Generations]]''. In other games in the series, various levels including [[sonicretro:Emerald Hill Zone|Emerald Hill Zone]] from ''[[sonicretro:Sonic the Hedgehog 2|Sonic The Hedgehog 2]]'' and [[Seaside Hill]] from ''[[sonicretro:Sonic Heroes|Sonic Heroes]]'' are based off Green Hill Zone, having the same kind of green grass and checkered soil. If the terrain is attacked too often, a section of it will collapse, but ti can eventually repair itself.
