The theme first appears in ''[[Donkey Kong Country]]'', playing in the [[Gang-Plank Galleon|final level of the same name]].

==Composition==
The introduction of the theme has a {{wp|sea shanty}} feel, representing the pirate-esque appearance of the stage where the theme is originally heard, though it quickly segues into a more intense battle theme. The theme is loosely based on the [[Nintendo Entertainment System|NES]] port of the title theme from ''{{wp|Sid Meier's Pirates!}}'', another game developed by [[Rare Ltd.|Rare]].

The game also includes an arrangement of "Snakey Chantey" arranged by [[Kumi Tanioka]]. It has an orchestra march-like feel and incorporates the last sections of "Gang-Plank Galleon."
