In the beginning of the game, Hongo uses his magic to seal [[Bowser]] and his armies, who were causing chaos at [[Yoshi's Island (location)|Yoshi Island]] at the book. However, Hongo fails and accidentally seals the entire island in the book. In the Forbidden Pop-Up Book, [[Yoshi]], helped by the [[tiny spirits]], goes on a quest to defeat Bowser and bring Yoshi's Island back to normal.
