When the trio befriends [[Donkey Kong]], they send him to steal the emerald. Donkey Kong manages to do so, even while kidnapping [[Pauline]] and fending off [[Mario]]. Donkey Kong holds on to the emerald during his retreat to the jungle, but is found by Mario almost right away who proceeds with his trap. When Belle, Billy Bob, and the Colonel give chase, crashing into Donkey Kong just as Mario is about to trap him; doing so causes Donkey Kong to drop the emerald right into the Colonel's hand but also traps the trio in the dropped cage.
