In the Wii version of the game, the event takes place at Mario Circuit, previously featured in Mario Kart Wii. In Team Festival Mode, before defeating Dry Bones, players need to reach day 13 to try this event. Pretty much all of the sound is taken from Mario Kart Wii. The first half of the track is pretty much the same as before, the only difference being that the track is steeper (even the shortcut behind the Chain Chomp returns). However, after that, instead of there being a short tunnel, there is a Warp Pipe that takes the player to the top of the mountain. There is a steep downhill portion, and near the bottom is a DK Cannon that takes the player back to the starting line. It is basically a ski race, with the addition of items. There are three controls for this event. The game is played by tilting the Wii Remote, and if a Nunchuk is plugged in, that is used as well. In this event, the Wii Balance Board is compatible.

Dream Ski Cross also appears in the DS version, here referred to as Ski Cross Racing. However, it does not take place on Mario Circuit. It takes place on a new place called Snow Island, which was made for the game. The DS version is similar to the Wii version, except for the controls and change of place. A similar event called Extreme Snow Boarding appears also.
