"'''Donkey Kong in: Banana Day 24'''" is a 6-page comic published in the 6/1996 issue of the German ''[[Club Nintendo (German magazine)|Club Nintendo]]'' magazine. It and "''[[Donkey Kong Country (comic)|Donkey Kong Country]]''" are the only Club Nintendo comics to be based on the ''[[Donkey Kong (franchise)|Donkey Kong]]'' franchise.

==Plot synopsis==

The [[Kong]]s are sleeping in the jungle when [[Squawks the Parrot|Squawks]] gets them up with a microphone and speakers, proceeding to tell a joke. Diddy is annoyed with him telling the same jokes and asks what day it is. [[Dixie Kong|Dixie]] and [[Donkey Kong]] claim that it is a normal day, but [[Diddy Kong|Diddy]] and [[Cranky Kong|Cranky]] explain that it is Christmas Eve. Dixie suggests preparing a party, but suddenly starts shivering. Cranky discovers that snow is falling from the sky, something the Kongs had not experienced yet. They turn on the TV, and the newscaster explains that the temperature has dropped dramatically on [[Earth]], with the [[United States of America|United States]]' [[Mr. President|President]] having been invited to a summit to find a solution. As Donkey Kong starts to shiver, the Kongs decide to travel to the US to talk to the President. On their [[Animal Friends]], they set off to the airport and take the [[Jumbo Barrel]] to [[Washington, D.C.|Washington]].

In Washington, the [[White House]] is covered in snow, with the US President and [[Germany]]'s Chancellor, [[Helmut Kohl]], sitting in front of a fireplace. The Kongs bust into the room, with Donkey talking them furiously. They initially hesitate, but decide to inform the Kongs on the phenomenon: A giant spaceship is pulling the Earth away from the Sun, resulting in the temperature decreasing. Donkey is surprised, but Cranky suggests negotiating with the aliens and asks the politicians to give them a spaceship, with the President giving them a space shuttle from {{wp|Cape Canaveral}}.

Cranky spots a huge UFO that has the Earth in tow with laser beams. Dixie demurs, but Donkey does not hesitate to talk to the aliens. With the help of Cranky, the three Kongs are beamed into the UFO. The aliens look very similar to the Kongs, but are huge and have green and blue skin. They welcome the Kongs kindly, and Donkey starts to reproach the aliens. Diddy assumes that their plan is to make the earthlings their slaves, but they admit that they have mistaken the Earth for a huge [[coconut]]. The Kongs cannot believe how one can take a planet for a coconut, but Diddy finds a solution to satisfy both parties: The Kongs leave bananas to the aliens, claiming that they are much tastier than coconuts, and in return the aliens return the Earth to its original place. They show the bananas to their friends and head back to Earth.

Upon their return, the Kongs are hailed by people, with Donkey telling the President and Kohl to contact them again if they have any problems. Back in their jungle, the Kongs throw their Christmas party, with [[Santa Claus]] coming, relieved to see the Earth again. Diddy and Dixie are enjoying the starry sky, Donkey throws Kiddy in the air, and Cranky and his wife [[Wrinkly Kong|Wrinkly]] are fighting due to the former's attempt at kissing a girl after their return to Earth.

*In Germany, where the comic was published, Christmas Day is celebrated on December 24th, explaining why the Kongs celebrate it on this day.
*While the Kongs are traveling in the Jumbo Barrel, a section of a world map can be seen. The arrows on the map, representing their route, imply that, during the events of this comic, the Kongs live in continental [[Africa]] instead of [[Donkey Kong Island]].
*At the end of the comic, the narrator mentions that the Kongs' party is reminiscent of the closing scenes from the "{{wp|Asterix|funny comics from the faraway Gaul}}".
*18 years after the comic, the games would also utilize a plot in which the Kongs' habitat faces sudden temperature changes and snowfall, in ''[[Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze]]''
