(film)|''Super Mario Bros.'' film]]. He had spoken unfavorably of the film after its release. Since his immortalized role as Frank Booth in the Oscar-nominated ''{{wp|Blue Velvet}}'', he made a steady career of playing villains in films such as ''{{wp|Speed (1994 film)|Speed}}'', ''{{wp|Waterworld}}'' and the aforementioned ''Super Mario Bros.'' film. Other notable works include ''{{wp|Hoosiers (film)|Hoosier}}'' and ''{{wp|Apocalypse Now}}''. He died on May 29, 2010 at the age of 74. A few months later, in August 2010, the ''Super Mario Bros.'' film was re-released on DVD in commemoration of him.
