The Coin Rush Star is an item that appears in Super Mario Runs Toad Rally mode. It is a blue star with silver eyes (which is inverted from the Super Star's colors). By collecting coins and performing stylish moves, players fill up a blue gauge in the top center of the screen. Once the gauge is filled up, the Coin Rush Star will appear from the meter and hover over the player for a few seconds, before dropping onto them and activating a Coin Rush.

During the event from December 20, 2023 to March 15, 2024 promoting Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the Coin Rush Star was replaced by a Wonder Flower.<ref>(December 20, 2023). During a Coin Rush, the background dims and sparkles appear. The player runs faster, but does not become invincible like a Super Star. Enemies will give twice as many coins when defeated, any block that provided a coin will instead shoot multiple coins forward, any block that provided a power-up instead provides three power-ups, and more coins appear in general. These additional coins may appear from nowhere, come out of pipes or from the sides of a Ghost House. All of the coins created through these means are affected by gravity and disappear after time has passed. Arrows that create coins create two rows instead of one, and snakes of coins similarly start creating two rows of coins.

During the Coin Rush, the gauge turns rainbow. The duration of Coin Rush is represented by the draining gauge. The gauge can be refilled partially by collecting coins and continuing to perform moves that create blue stars.

A Coin Rush can also be activated by collecting a Super Star. This overrides the gauge completely, locking it to full. This state replaces any normally activated Coin Rush, and the player returns to normal with an empty guage when the Super Star's effect ends.

During the event from December 20, 2023 to March 15, 2024 promoting Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the Coin Rush Star was replaced by a Wonder Flower. Additionally, all coins not inside blocks during a Coin Rush activated by a Wonder Flower were replaced by Gold Goombas, which still acted like normal coins, while all Pink Coins were replaced by flower coins. The music that played during a Wonder Flower-activated Coin Rush was "Medley-Mix Wonder" from Super Mario Bros. Wonder.<ref>(December 20, 2023).
