Why does this category exist? Almost all series we cover could be classified as "spin-off series", but this category just has four random series that are all in the main : Category:Game series anyway, so there's absolutely no point to this. | Why does this category exist? We're... Conflicted. On the one hand, in its current state, yeah, this is totally useless. In addition, Nintendo has basically no intent to distinguish between what a "spin-off series" is and what is a "main" series game (there is literally zero consensus about what the main line Mario games are), or what's a "main" series in its own right (like Yoshi or Wario). But also, it feels like we should at least try to figure something out before deleting this, because this could potentially be a decent category to have if we did that. Though, to be fair, it honestly might just be easier to axe the page in its entirety first and then rebuild it from the ground up, because the current state is. Questionable at best, and actively detrimental at worst. But like, a category that holds all the "Mario" branded spinoffs, like Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, Mario Strikers, Mario Baseball, Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, etc., all feel like a category that could be useful, and this could be that! ...Key word being "could". 11:19, May 16, 2023 (EDT) | We're... :Like I said though, almost every series we cover could be classed as a "spin-off" (technically every Mario-branded series is a spin-off from Donkey Kong), so I think it's a pretty pointless distinction to make. :Category:Game series is just a more comprehensive version of this that completely avoids that argument. 11:30, May 16, 2023 (EDT) | :Like I said though, almost every series we cover could be classed as a "spin-off" (technically every Mario-branded series is a spin-off from Donkey Kong), so I think it's a pretty pointless distinction to make.
