It includes characters based lions, tigers, and jaguars. Personally, I like this broad application, but I suspect it makes the category a little unclear to some users, especially since we have a Category:Canines in place of a "Category:Dogs". Despite the prior proposal, I think "feline" is a fairly common word in English (or is at least as common as "canine"), and is a more serviceable name for the scope of this category. I would like to change it back. | ||
(Additional note: In scientific zoologic nomenclature, "feline" more narrowly refers to members of Felinae, which excludes the big roaring cats like lions and tigers. "Canine" more narrowly refers to Caninae, which includes all living members of the dog family. Neither use reflect how those words are used in normal parlance. I think they would be fine for Super Mario Wiki. However, for those who adopt a similar view, a potentially alternative would be to adopt "Category:Felids" and "Category:Canids". These are the terms used in scientific nomenclature for the members of the cat family Felidae and dog family Canidae, respectively.) | (Additional note: In scientific zoologic nomenclature, "feline" more narrowly refers to members of Felinae, which excludes the big roaring cats like lions and tigers.
