'''Bonus Challenges''' are [[minigame]]s in ''[[Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island]]'' (and [[Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3|its reissue]]) and ''[[Yoshi's Island DS]]''. When a [[Yoshi (species)|Yoshi]] reaches the [[Goal Ring|goal roulette]] and the roulette lands on a [[Smiley Flower|flower]], a Bonus Challenge can be instantly played. In the original ''Yoshi's Island'', a specific Bonus Challenge can also be unlocked and played anytime after the player gets 800 [[point]]s in a [[world]]; in the [[reissue]] and ''Yoshi's Island DS'', Bonus Challenges can be accessed after the player gets 700 points in a world.

Drawing Lots was the only Bonus Challenge that did not appear in ''Yoshi's Island DS'', most likely due to the fact that the game has only five worlds as opposed to six and that the player could not use items in this game.

*In the Japanese version of ''Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island'', the Bonus Challenge panels on the Level Selection screen display their corresponding name instead of "Bonus 1," "Bonus 2," etc.
*In ''Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island'', as there are no goal roulettes in [[fortress]] levels for Yellow Yoshis to pass [[Baby Mario]] on to Purple Yoshis, the latter are the only color type not to participate in Bonus Challenges. 
*In ''Yoshi's Island DS'', the background music shares some similarities with the [[Underwater Theme]] from the original ''[[Super Mario Bros.]]''
