'''Arrow fields''' are a course feature in ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'', introduced in the ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass|Booster Course Pass]]''. They are holographic scrolling chevron arrows that extend over the exits of junctions in the track. Attempting to drive past one will cause [[Lakitu (Mario Kart referee)|Lakitu]] to pick the player up, similarly to falling into a [[pit]] or going out-of-bounds. Arrow fields are distinct from simple physical barriers in that they are in different locations on each lap, changing the route of the course as the race continues. The longest arrow field is located on the first lap of {{classic link|Tour|Amsterdam Drift}}, pointing towards the {{wp|IJtunnel}}, and the shortest is on lap one of {{classic link|N64|Kalimari Desert}}, inside the tunnel.

Most courses have red arrow fields, though {{classic|N64|Kalimari Desert}} and {{classic link|Tour|Bangkok Rush}}'s arrow fields are teal. The former's arrow fields are also unique in that one of them appears large from far away, but shrinks to fit within the player's view as they approach it.

 

 

Early footage for {{classic link|Tour|Tokyo Blur}} shows that the arrows initially had an appearance identical to the green arrow holograms from {{classic link|SNES|Rainbow Road}} (which is also supported by the files for the arrow fields including a model of them, named "ArrowSignSfcrr_Green").

All courses with arrow fields, except for {{classic link|DS|Peach Gardens}}, are courses that had multiple routes in ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]''.
