The Archie Mario comic is a failed pitch by Archie Comics, a comic book publisher that has published other comics based on famous video game properties, including Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man. It was confirmed by writer Ian Flynn that Archie pitched a Super Mario comic book series to Nintendo, but it was rejected. and Metroid comics, also illustrated by Yardley, but they were similarly rejected.
